DDL West Announces Series of Webcasts on Packaging & Risk Management -- When Time-to-Market is Critical, Understand Your Risk
Costa Mesa, CA (PRWeb) February 8, 2007 -- http://www.testedandproven.com - DDL West, a leading package, product and material testing services firm, is hosting a series of webcasts on packaging and risk management.
Packaging professionals and manufacturers are invited to participate in an interactive webcast to gain a better understanding of the risk associated with their product's packaging and obtain tips on how to better manage this risk.
"Individuals responsible for packaging design and validation are required to provide a safe and effective package that can deliver the enclosed product to the end-user without incurring defect," said Karen Greene, Technical Director at DDL West. "In order to do this, the packaging must undergo a comprehensive risk assessment process to ensure that end-user safety isn't compromised and that the product is delivered to market in a timely fashion."
DDL West's series of Packaging & Risk Management webcasts will focus on:
1. Packaging design requirements
2. Packaging hazard analysis
3. Prototyping and testing package design
"It's very important to follow a set risk assessment process to ensure that you have all bases covered before releasing your product into the marketplace," said Greene. "When you're dealing with critical applications such as medical devices, package failure is simply not an option."
The first webcast on Packaging & Risk Management will air on two days:
• Wednesday, March 14, 2007 at 11 am CST
• Friday, March 16, 2007 at 12 Noon CST

Biodegradable Packing Products: How Do They Work And Is Quality Compromised?
How do biodegradable packing products compare to those made of plastic? Do they compromise the protection of the item within the package? How do they work? First of all, they do not compromise the protection aspect. They are just as effective as many of the plastic products used to ship items. The difference is that they will degrade or disintegrate over time rather than be released somewhere in the environment to remain for months or years at a time. Such waste can put habitats at risk and puts the environment at risk as well. With biodegradable packing products, they will dissolve over time and not have a negative impact on animal habitats and the environment.
