Salazar Packaging, Inc. Introduces 100% Post-Consumer Waste Corrugated Boxes

Plainfield, IL (PRWEB) April 11, 2008 -- Salazar Packaging, Inc. (www.salazarpackaging.com), a distributor of packaging materials and equipment with a focus on sustainable packaging, today introduced Globe Guard?, its own brand of corrugated boxes made from 100% post-consumer waste (PCW) material. Globe Guard? boxes are available in both standard and custom sizes and board constructions.

"We are incredibly excited about Globe Guard? and see it as an important contribution to the sustainable packaging movement," said company president, Dennis Salazar. "Contrary to popular perception, corrugated boxes usually contain only 25-35% recycled material -- or less. Now, high and low volume operations can use 100% PCW boxes and dramatically reduce their impact on the environment."

Besides contributing to a greener environment, Globe Guard? boxes offer buyers another important benefit -- affordability. Unlike some packaging products engineered for sustainability, Globe Guard? corrugated boxes do not sell at a premium. Salazar Packaging's stock sizes of the new box line are constructed of 32 ECT board, a popular industry standard.

Sustainable Packaging brings Two Minority Business Enterprises Together

Salazar Packaging, a minority business enterprise (MBE), selected another MBE to manufacture Globe Guard?. Cano Container Corporation (www.canocontainer.com), a corrugated sheet plant with operations in the Chicago area and on the West Coast, worked closely with Salazar Packaging to develop the new box line. "We're always pleased when we can work with another MBE, especially when it involves new ideas and products," said Cano president and CEO Juventino Cano. "In this case, we were very eager to get involved because Globe Guard? is an ideal way for us to make a meaningful contribution to the sustainable packaging effort."

Purchasers of the new boxes will be able to notice -- and let their customers notice -- the sustainable difference. The Globe Guard? logo is printed on the bottom flap of each box, and Salazar Packaging is offering customers a variety of marketing materials and support to help them express their environmental message.

Salazar said, "Our customer's customers are the people driving the Green movement. Shippers need to let customers know about their sustainable efforts. Otherwise sellers will see more and more customers drift away to what they perceive as 'Greener pastures'. We think it's vitally important to help our customers keep their customers informed."

Salazar himself is an energetic sustainable packaging advocate, and speaks frequently to corporate and environmental associations. His articles on sustainable packaging have appeared in numerous industry magazines, websites, and blogs.

Which CD/DVD Packaging best suits my needs?
Corporate clients have the most interesting ideas for promoting products/concepts on CDs or DVDs. These tend to be the more creative/specialist packaging ideas. If you are at a conference/seminar where CDs & DVDs are handed out, the packaging for this tends to be more standard. For example, if you are mailing CDs or DVDs then you will need more durable/robust packaging e.g. slimline jewel cases, cardboard sleeves, clam/shell cases, trigger cases. Its best if a list is compiled of each sorts of packaging with a description of where they would be best used.
